Greasy Kid

A greasy kid picks up his dad's guitar a writes a song,

He's talented, lots of ideas in his head, so nothing should go wrong,

He didn't realise they seemed so nice at the recording company,

The debut went well but the sequel won't sell, now he's dying alone on the street.

And he said, what's there to see with my head on my knees, I was blinded by the limelight,

I was naive, I was so eager to please and you should never follow your dreams.

A track runner came to make his name in the record books of sport,

They swallowed him up and his ideas of the cup and he's never been the same,

An indie show with some way to go started out on Cable 9,

Sponsored by coke, who's ideas were a joke and it's been laughed off the stage at prime time.

(Chorus)

This is a legacy for those who feel that they have something left to give,

Stick to your own, leave your ideas back at home, you'll still have plenty of dreams to live.

(Chorus x2)
